As a supporter and friend of PHMSA, we hope you will be able to attend the April Member’s Meeting of the People’s Health Movement South Africa Circle.
These meetings take place every second month. We hope to make these meetings as participatory as possible. This will be an opportunity for you to be updated on the activities of the PHM-SA. It will also be an opportunity for you to feedback on any issues you think that the PHM-SA should be pursuing in the health sector in South Africa.

The venue has been charged to SATAWU Boardroom, Community House 41 Salt River Road, Salt River in Cape Town.
This meeting we will discuss the following:
- Health Struggles of Guatemala; We are so privileged to have Walter Flores, who is an active PHM member from CEGSS who will be sharing with us the Health Struggles of Guatemala.
- Will be discussing the Wouter Basson case: Wouter Basson is a South African cardiologist and former head of the country’s secret chemical and biological warfare project, Project Coast, during the apartheid era. He was found guilty by the South African Health Professions Council of misusing his medical knowledge and skill in his position as Head of the South African Defense Force’s Chemical and Biological Weapons Program during apartheid.
- Marikana workshop update: Sophie and Eugene Cairncross will also present a report back on the recent workshops they in Marikana on behalf of PHM.
